Recap: Centennial Eagles vs. Martin County Tigers
The Martin County Tigers typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Centennial Eagles proved too difficult a challenge. They claimed a resounding 65-32 victory over the Tigers on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Centennial has posted since December 28, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centennial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jailyn Williams, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Centennial's points. Jakenzye McBride was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine assists.
Despite the loss, Martin County had strong showings from Becca Witt, who scored seven points, and Cameron Slate, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Centennial's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-7. As for Martin County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will take on Palm Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Palm Bay is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Martin County, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Viera at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Viera focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday.
