Baseball Game Preview: Round Rock Westwood Warriors vs. Round Rock Dragons

Round Rock Westwood hasn't had much luck against Round Rock recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Warriors will challenge the Dragons at 1:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Round Rock Westwood narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Hutto 5-4.

Jake Jones was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, Round Rock came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Hippos 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Round Rock Westwood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-12-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Round Rock, their victory bumped their record up to 19-3-2.

Round Rock Westwood came up short against Round Rock in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 8-3. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
