Soccer Game Preview: Ottawa vs. Sycamore

Ottawa is 0-7 against Sycamore since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ottawa took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand LaSalle-Peru a 7-0 shutout.

Ottawa's offense was hitting the Cavaliers from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Ayla Covalsky led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Sycamore made sure to put some goals up on the board against Crystal Lake South on Saturday. They blew past the Gators 7-1. Given Sycamore's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Crystal Lake South are ranked 327th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ottawa's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Sycamore, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3-1.
