Basketball Recap: Cordova Wolves vs. Southwind Jaguars
The Cordova Wolves can finally bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Southwind by a score of 41-34. Cordova's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Southwind lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Desire Hampton, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hampton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Arianna Davis, who scored three points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Cordova's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7. As for Southwind, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cordova will take on the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Kingsbury comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Southwind, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Houston presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Jaguars in Tennessee (the Mustangs are ranked 100th, while the Jaguars are ranked 261st).
