Softball Game Preview: Smoky Valley Vikings vs. Larned Indians

The Smoky Valley Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Larned Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Smoky Valley has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Smoky Valley blew Hillsboro out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Hillsboro got their revenge. The Vikings fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 14-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Alexis Gordon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rylie Tolle, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Larned was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 17-3 to Hesston.

Larned's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Smoky Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Smoky Valley might still be hurting after the 14-8 defeat they got from Larned in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
