Softball Game Preview: Calais Blue Devils vs. Machias Bulldogs

Calais and Machias are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Blue Devils will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Calais will bounce into Monday's game after beating Woodland, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 15-11 on Friday.

Kayleigh Scott was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Alexis Bowen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Machias got the win against Woodland on Wednesday by a conclusive 15-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Calais' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Machias, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Calais might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from Machias in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
