Basketball Game Preview: Firebaugh Eagles vs. Mendota Aztecs

The Firebaugh Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Mendota Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Firebaugh is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They had just enough and edged Dos Palos out 74-71. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Mendota took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 57-26 victory over Avenal. With the Aztecs ahead 42-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Mendota pushed their record up to 14-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points over those games. As for Firebaugh, their victory bumped their record up to 10-16.

Firebaugh ended up a good deal behind Mendota in their previous meeting back in January, losing 62-45. Can Firebaugh avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
