Baseball Game Preview: Three Rivers Wildcats vs. Union City Chargers

The Three Rivers Wildcats will head out to face off against the Union City Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Three Rivers is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Three Rivers duked it out with Parchment on Thursday. The Wildcats walked away with a 7-3 win over the Panthers.

Three Rivers got a great performance from Wyatt Ferriby as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave Ferriby a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carson Beuter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Penny, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Union City brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. Everything went their way against Reading on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-0 victory. The Chargers have beaten the Rangers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rangers has come to flipping the script.

Three Rivers pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Union City, their record now sits at 10-6.
