Volleyball Recap: Newcastle Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Newcastle lost against Douglas two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Dogies came up short against the Bearcats, falling 3-0.

While Newcastle was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Douglas' winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-19, 26-24.

Newcastle's offense was headlined by Adalyn Olson and Lillie Morrill, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Kyndal Von Eye and her 14 assists. Sydney Pederson controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Douglas was led to victory by Kendrie Ewing and Samantha Yost. Ewing had ten digs, while Yost had 12 kills, seven digs, and four aces. Yost has been hot, having posted 12 or more kills the last five times she's played.

Newcastle's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Douglas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season.

Newcastle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Burns on the 17th. As for Douglas, after both having extra time off, they and Torrington will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
