Basketball Game Preview: Washington County Panthers vs. Gates County Red Barons

The Washington County Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Gates County Red Barons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Washington County didn't have too much trouble with Bertie as they won 49-33. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.

Aaliyah Carter continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8-for-14 en route to 19 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ke'Myia Young, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Washington County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Gates County waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They breezed past the Husky to the tune of 65-17. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-5.

Washington County's record now sits at 11-9. As for Gates County, their record now sits at 21-1.

Washington County was taken down by Gates County 66-33 when the teams last played last Friday. Can Washington County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
