Baseball Preview: Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds vs. Izard County Cougars

The Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds will take on the Izard County Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Sloan-Hendrix didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. McCandlis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Braxton Mccandlis and Portor Burton did most of the damage at the plate: Mccandlis scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Burton scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Burton has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Noah Mosley was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Sloan-Hendrix's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Izard County, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
