Basketball Recap: American Prep WV Drops Highest Score of Season Against Intermountain Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask American Prep WV). They blew past the Intermountain Christian Lions 86-63 on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles who have now won six matches in a row.

American Prep WV was led to victory by Marcus Versluis and Amir Mohammed. Versluis dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 boards, while Mohammed went 7 of 14 en route to 16 points and eight assists. Mohammed continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Andreas Ponce also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

American Prep WV smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Hillaker, who went 7 for 15 to rack up 19 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Furze, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points and six boards.

American Prep WV's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.2 points over those games. As for Intermountain Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

American Prep WV has already played their next contest, a 69-68 win against Non Varsity Opponent on the 6th. As for Intermountain Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-44 victory against Salt Lake Academy on the 7th.
