Basketball Game Preview: Prout Crusaders vs. Chariho Chargers

Prout is 1-6 against Chariho since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Prout Crusaders will venture away from home to take on the Chariho Chargers at 6:45 p.m. One thing working in Prout's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

While Prout didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Tiverton 76-52 on Saturday. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Prout relied on the efforts of Ryan Antonucci, who posted 21 points, and Kaden Osenkowski, who earned 20 points. Another player making a difference was Lawson O'Hearn, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, Chariho came up short against Burrillville on Thursday, falling 60-35. The game marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Chariho saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dayton Lee posted 13 points and eight rebounds. Lee continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Prout's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Chariho, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Prout strolled past Chariho when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 63-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Prout since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
