Softball Game Preview: Penfield Patriots vs. Webster Schroeder Warriors

Penfield is 0-10 against Webster Schroeder since May of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Patriots will host the Warriors at 5:00 p.m.

Penfield might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-2 to Webster Thomas, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Penfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allison Gardner, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Megan Clark, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Meanwhile, Webster Schroeder had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against Brighton as they made off with an 11-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won five in a row.

Liana DeValder made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. DeValder was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Webster Schroeder got a big performance out of Amber Kohlmeier, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5. What's more, Kohlmeier posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Keil, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

Penfield might still be hurting after the 14-7 loss they got from Webster Schroeder in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
