Baseball Recap: Whitmire Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Whitmire had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Horse Creek Academy Stallions 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since March 21st.

Blake Stribble was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Whitmire is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-13 otherwise. Stribble was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Vicars, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April.

The victory made it two in a row for Whitmire and bumps their season record up to 11-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Horse Creek Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Whitmire nor Horse Creek Academy have any future games scheduled.
