Basketball Recap: Desert Christian Find Success

After losing to St. Augustine Catholic the last time they met, Desert Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Desert Christian Eagles snuck past the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves with a 39-33 victory on Monday.

Despite the defeat, St. Augustine Catholic saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sevina Paz almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Paz a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Preciado, who posted five points and 11 rebounds.

Desert Christian's win bumped their record up to 10-14. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season.

Desert Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-30 loss against Benson on the 6th. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-32 defeat against Tombstone on the 5th.
