Baseball Game Preview: Cheltenham Panthers vs. New Hope-Solebury Lions

The Cheltenham Panthers will take on the New Hope-Solebury Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Cheltenham will be strutting in after a victory while New Hope-Solebury will be coming in after a defeat.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Friday. Cheltenham put the hurt on William Tennent with a sharp 12-3 win. The victory continues a trend for Cheltenham in their matchups with William Tennent: they've now won five in a row.

Nate Leary tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emile Chanoine, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, five runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Finn Kopp, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Cheltenham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, New Hope-Solebury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Springfield Township, falling 12-3.

Anthony Whelan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Cheltenham's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for New Hope-Solebury, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Cheltenham took their victory against New Hope-Solebury when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
