Basketball Recap: Columbine Takes a Loss

Columbine suffered their biggest defeat since January 17, 2024 on Wednesday. They were beaten by the Valor Christian Eagles 80-41. The Rebels have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Despite the loss, Columbine still got an impressive performance from Taylor Speir, who posted 17 points. Jordyn Washington was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Peyton Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Valor Christian, going 15 of 21 on her way to 36 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Valor Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Quinn VanSickle, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine steals.

Columbine's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Valor Christian, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Ralston Valley the next time they take the court. Valor Christian will host Ralston Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Columbine will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd.
