Softball Recap: Riesel Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Riesel waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Hubbard Jaguars 12-2. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jaguars, too.

Kyleigh Benton (UAM) was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camdyn Benton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lauren Summers (UAM), who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Riesel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Riesel's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Hubbard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8-2.

Riesel will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Jaguars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
