Basketball Recap: Oxford Academy Victorious

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Oxford Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past the Edmeston Central Panthers with a 68-64 victory. This was payback for the Blackhawks, who suffered a 36-29 loss the last time these two teams met.

Edmeston Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braymon Clark, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Zinger, who put up 16 points.

The win made it two in a row for Oxford Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-3. As for Edmeston Central, with the loss, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-1.

Oxford Academy will venture away from home to square off against Rhode Island School for the Deaf at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Edmeston Central, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Edmeston Central Panthers challenge the Milford Central Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Edmeston Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Milford Central likes a good challenge.
