Softball Recap: Apple Springs Comes Up Short

The matchup between Apple Springs and Wells on Tuesday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. Apple Springs came up short against Wells, falling 18-6. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Apple Springs saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Faith Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Lauren Lankford was another, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Even though they lost, Apple Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. This was only their first loss (out of six games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Apple Springs' record is now 6-10. As for Wells, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7-1.

While Apple Springs had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
