Volleyball Recap: Medina Battling Bees vs. Highland Hornets
Medina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Highland Hornets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Battling Bees of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.
Medina was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Highland work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-15, 26-24, 25-15.
Medina's offense was headlined by Kiera Szuter and Oliva Fedor, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Lauren Sherman and her 12 assists.
Leading Highland to victory were Carley Niese and Alaina Weingart. Niese had 23 digs and six aces, while Weingart had eight digs. That's the most aces Niese has posted since back in September of 2024.
Medina's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Highland, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.
Medina wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against North Ridgeville on the 23rd. As for Highland, they will take on Aurora at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Hornets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
