Soccer Game Preview: Greenbrier vs. Jackson County

The Greenbrier Wolfpack will square off against the Jackson County Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Greenbrier sitting on seven straight victories and Jackson County on three.

Greenbrier is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-1 margin over Rome. Greenbrier might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by four goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Rome from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Madelyn Heckathorn led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Jackson County was able to grind out a solid win over Thomas County Central on Tuesday, taking the game 3-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Jackson County's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Thomas County Central are ranked 134th).

Jackson County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those five matches. As for Greenbrier, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.

Greenbrier couldn't quite get it done against Jackson County in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 as they fell 2-0. Can the Wolfpack avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
