Softball Preview: Blacklick Valley Vikings vs. Ferndale Yellow Jackets
Blacklick Valley is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Ferndale Yellow Jackets at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Blacklick Valley is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against United. Blacklick Valley blew past United 10-4 on Monday.
Savannah Woods made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Woods was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Averi Yewcic and Madison Vasilko did most of the damage at the plate: Yewcic scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5, while Vasilko scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave Yewcic a new career-high. Lauren Rohrabaugh was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Blacklick Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as United only managed six hits.
