Spearville is 9-1 against Stanton County since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Lancers will take on the Trojans in a tournament on Wednesday. Spearville is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
While Spearville's victory against Ellis wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lancers had just enough and edged out the Railroaders 6-5.
Cheyenne Ackerman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Ackerman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morghyn Rucker, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Ema Karrer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Spearville hit Stanton County with a four-run fourth inning last Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost three in a row.
Like Spearville, Stanton County also got a great game from a two-way player: Kynzi Fehringer. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Fehringer has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Valeria Ortega was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3.
Spearville's win bumped their record up to 19-6. As for Stanton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-5.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Spearville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Stanton County struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
