Preston won the last time they faced Mounds and things went their way  on Tuesday too. The Pirates blew past the Golden Eagles 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won nine games by eight  runs or more  so far this season.
 Jayden Herring and  Bradley Winford made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound,  Herring   tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. Meanwhile,  Winford   tossed one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Herring has been consistent: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate,  Herring  went 2-for-3 with one  run and one  RBI, while  Winford  went 1-for-3 with two  runs and one  stolen base. That's the most  runs  Winford has posted since back in March.
 In other batting news, Preston got a  massive  performance out of  Pepper Gallup, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and two  doubles. Those  three  RBI gave  Gallup a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Noah Wilson, who  went 1-for-2 with one  home run and three  runs.
 Preston  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mounds only posted  an  OBP of  .182.
Preston's win was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 13-4. The  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mounds, they now  have a losing record of 10-11.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Preston will have some time to savor their  win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ketchum at 5:00  p.m.  on May 2. As for Mounds, they will venture away from home to  square off against Stroud  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday.
