Baseball Recap: Weedsport Has No Trouble Against Lafayette

After only one run in their last match, Weedsport made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lafayette on Monday. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Lancers. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolverines as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Micheal LoMascolo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. LoMascolo was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Weedsport's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nico Giacolone, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI. He has become a key player for Weedsport: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 5-6 otherwise. Joey LoMascolo was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

The victory got Weedsport back to even at 7-7. As for Lafayette, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 8-3 record.

Coming up, Weedsport will challenge Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Rebels have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Lafayette does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
