Softball Recap: Beech Grove Hornets vs. Speedway Sparkplugs
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Beech Grove had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Speedway Sparkplugs and snuck past 3-2. The win was nothing new for Beech Grove as they're now sitting on three straight.
Malone Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Beech Grove's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mylee Boling, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Holly Garrett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Beech Grove has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Speedway, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-13.
