Softball Recap: Masuk Picks Up 11th Consecutive Victory

Masuk had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. They blew past the Newtown Nighthawks 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Julia Bacoulis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matchups.

In other batting news, Grace Ely was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 3-for-4. Alyssa Castillo was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

Masuk's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-1-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Newtown, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-6-1.

As of now, neither Masuk nor the Nighthawks have any future games scheduled.
