Baseball Recap: Crawford Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Crawford ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the High Tech SD Storm. For the Colts, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Storm walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Alejandro Guzman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Guzman wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Hill, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Abraham Carillo-Ceron, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Crawford's record is now 2-0. As for High Tech SD, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Crawford will face off against Calvin Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for High Tech SD, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter at 3:00 p.m. on March 7th.
