Recap: Alton Redbirds vs. Nashville Hornets

The Alton Redbirds came tearing into Wednesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Nashville by a score of 55-42. Given Alton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Nashville is ranked 32nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Talia Norman, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Norman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kiyoko Proctor, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Alton's victory bumped their record up to 22-1. As for Nashville, their loss dropped their record down to 20-3.
Alton will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Breese Central at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. Breese Central's defense has only allowed 29.4 points per game this season, so Alton's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Nashville, they will face off against Mater Dei at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Mater Dei focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
