Baseball Recap: Brewbaker Tech Comes Up Short

Brewbaker Tech had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 9-12 to make it five. They came up short against the Holtville Bulldogs, falling 13-5. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 5-2 loss on Thursday.

Chris Lewis made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Gage, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Holtville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

On Holtville's side, HOGAN WHITE looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, GAGE RUSSOM was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Holtville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise. KELAN KIMBRO was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brewbaker Tech will challenge LAMP at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Holtville, they will take on Maplesville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
