Preview: Curlew Cougars vs. Liberty Bell Mountain Lions
After both having extra time off, the Curlew Cougars and the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Curlew has eight straight wins, Liberty Bell has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Saturday, Curlew strolled past Selkirk with points to spare, taking the game 37-19. The team accrued 31 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
Curlew's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Emma Lena Baker, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, and Annika Baker, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Baker's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ellie Calhoun, who scored two points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Liberty Bell was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Monday as they fell 54-50 to Pateros.
Curlew pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Liberty Bell, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
