Cayuga dropped down to 19-9 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the LaPoynor Flyers by a score of 10-9. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for LaPoynor, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 5th.

For LaPoynor's part, Coltyn Willingham tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. What's more, Willingham posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jesse Budgell, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. LaPoynor is 9-1 when Budgell posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kaden McKinley, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Cayuga will head out on the road to square off against Overton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for LaPoynor, they will welcome Beckville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bearcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
