After both having extra time off, the Bishop Hendricken Hawks and the Chariho Chargers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bishop Hendricken is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: North Smithfield, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Bishop Hendricken was ranked third). The Hawks put the hurt on the Northmen with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday.
The final score came out to 25-8, 25-17, 25-14.
Bishop Hendricken can attribute much of their success to Santiago Harrington, who had nine digs and two assists.
Bishop Hendricken couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 41.1% of their attack attempts. The last time their hitting percentage was this high was back in April of 2024.
Chariho had won two straight games and Jaxson Vachon did his part to make it three on Tuesday. The Chargers walked away with a 3-1 win over Barrington with plenty of help from Vachon, who had 24 digs and one assist. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season.
Chariho walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17.
Bishop Hendricken's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Chariho, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Bishop Hendricken has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Chariho struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
