White Knoll is 1-9 against Chapin since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Timberwolves will welcome the Eagles at 6:30 p.m.
White Knoll blew Gilbert out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Gilbert got their revenge. The Timberwolves fell just short of the Indians by a score of 5-3. That's two games in a row now that the Timberwolves have lost by exactly two runs.
Dillon Woods was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Logan Gadberry also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Chapin came tearing into Monday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Charlie Mejia tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Cambell Todd was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Harper, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Chapin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Chapin's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for White Knoll, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-17.
White Knoll suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Chapin in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Timberwolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
