Baseball Recap: Sandwich Comes Up Short at Home Against Streator

Sandwich unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 10-3 to the Streator Bulldogs on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 5-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Sandwich saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Michalek, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Streator back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Sandwich will be playing at home against Coal City at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Streator, they will head out on the road to challenge Plainfield South at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
