The Ennis Lions will head out to face off against the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ennis made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Red Oak, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lions were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Hawks on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Breona Benavidez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Ennis let Aley Nichols and Kaycee Slovak run wild. Nichols scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Slovak scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that Nichols snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Kylie Saxon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Midlothian Heritage came tearing into Friday's matchup with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Tigers 16-1.
The team relied heavily on Taylor Bilderback, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Joleigh Richards was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
Midlothian Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive games.
Midlothian Heritage pushed their record up to 22-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Ennis, their record now sits at 17-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ennis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Midlothian Heritage struggles in that department as they've averaged .397. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ennis came up short against Midlothian Heritage when the teams last played back in March, falling 10-5. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
