Football Recap: Holy Cross Takes a Loss

Holy Cross made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ansonia, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Crusaders fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 28-26 on Friday. While the Crusaders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chargers 6-0 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Holy Cross lost, don't look at Brady Lombardo. Despite the final result, he threw for 243 yards and two TDs, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground.

Holy Cross' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for Ansonia, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Holy Cross and Ansonia will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Crusaders see the field they'll take on Crosby at 6:30 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Ansonia, their break will end when they face Woodland Regional at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
