Freedom unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through an 83-19 loss at the hands of the East Union Lancers. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 69-19.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tah'Kai Edwards, who threw for 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 43 yards and one TD.

Kirk Simoni was nothing short of spectacular for East Union: he threw for 345 yards and five touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 38 yards and one score. Nikko Hisatomi was in the mix as well, providing the Lancers with two TDs.

East Union has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Freedom will look to defend their home field on Friday against Maria Carrillo at 7:00 p.m. As for East Union, they are taking a road trip to challenge Johansen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
