Preview: Kingsburg Vikings vs. Dinuba Emperors
The Kingsburg Vikings will be playing at home against the Dinuba Emperors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kingsburg will be hoping to continue their five-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Kingsburg stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 44-6 win over Selma. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Kingsburg can attribute much of their success to Max Warkentin, who threw for 125 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and Ryan Martinez, who picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Kaleb Pedersen was another key contributor, rushing for 67 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, Dinuba's game on Friday was all tied up 13-13 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They and Mission Oak were almost perfectly matched up, but Dinuba suffered an agonizing 28-27 defeat.
Despite their loss, Dinuba saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Diego Tuttle, who rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Ramirez, who rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
Kingsburg's victory bumped their season record to 8-2 while Dinuba's defeat dropped theirs to 5-5.
Everything came up roses for Kingsburg against Dinuba when the teams last played back in September as the squad secured a 42-14 win. Does Kingsburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dinuba turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
