Soccer Game Preview: Ashley Ridge vs. Bishop England

Ashley Ridge is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Bishop England is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Swamp Foxes will welcome the Battling Bishops at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Ashley Ridge needed a bit of extra time to put away West Ashley. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 2-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Ashley Ridge's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked third, while West Ashley are ranked 45th).

Austin Fuller and Aiden Butts scored both of Ashley Ridge's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 19 goals.

Meanwhile, Bishop England kept a clean sheet against Colleton County on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 6-0 win.

Bishop England is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those ten contests. As for Ashley Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 18-3.

Ashley Ridge took their victory against Bishop England in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Swamp Foxes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Battling Bishops turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
