Basketball Recap: Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian was the 56-52 winner over Lakewood Park Christian when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian Braves took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakewood Park Christian Panthers on Saturday.

It was another big night for Ava McGrade, who almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds for Lakewood Park Christian. That makes it four consecutive games in which McGrade has scored at least a third of Lakewood Park Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilia West, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Lakewood Park Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian will challenge Adams Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakewood Park Christian, they will host Fort Wayne Wayne at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
