Basketball Recap: Belleville Comes Up Short

Belleville entered their game against Wayne Memorial on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Belleville Tigers came up short against the Wayne Memorial Zebras, falling 69-49. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Zebras this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-54 two weeks ago.

Carlos Medlock Jr was his usual excellent self, going 10-for-20 on his way to 25 points along with six assists and five boards for Wayne Memorial. Medlock Jr has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaylohn Allen, who posted 15 points and five rebounds.

Belleville's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Wayne Memorial, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2.

Looking ahead, Belleville will challenge Dearborn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dearborn will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Belleville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wayne Memorial, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 85-58 victory against Stevenson on the 17th.
