Baseball Game Preview: Las Animas Trojans vs. Rye Thunderbolts

Las Animas is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Rye a six-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Las Animas Trojans will host the Rye Thunderbolts at 3:00 p.m. The last three games Las Animas has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Las Animas didn't have quite enough to beat Fowler and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, Rye fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Swink on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to the Lions, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Branson Burbidge made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Rye's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-16 when he doesn't).

Rye's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Las Animas, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.

Las Animas came out on top in a nail-biter against Rye in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunderbolts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
