Basketball Game Preview: Orem Tigers vs. Springville Red Devils

The Orem Tigers will square off against the Springville Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Orem comes in on nine and Springville on five.

Orem is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Salem Hills: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Orem blew Salem Hills out of the water with an 87-35 final score. That looming 87-35 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Meanwhile, Springville made easy work of Cedar Valley on Tuesday and carried off a 68-48 win. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Aviators are ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Springville's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points over those games. As for Orem, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.

Orem couldn't quite finish off Springville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 55-53. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Springville's Jamyn Sondrup, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards.
