2A Conference 15 recap October 22, 2013

Ayden-Grifton was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 2A Conference 15. Earlier in the week, the Chargers defeated South Lenoir 37-15.

North Lenoir fell to Greene Central 48-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Goldsboro's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nashir Bowden threw for 96 and 1 touchdown and Clyde James had 45 yards receiving. On the ground Rashied Malette chipped in 171 yards. Joseph Baker helped Goldsboro's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 24 yards.

Malette was a passing and rushing force as the Cougars fell to Kinston.

James was the best receiver in the league this week as Goldsboro fell to the Vikings. James tallied 1 reception for 45 yards. Baker helped Goldsboro's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 24 yards.

Goldsboro's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bowden has thrown for 898 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Baker has 25 catches for 350 yards.

Malette of the Eric Reid's team is just 9 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 140 carries Malette has accumulated 991 yard this year.

At the moment, the Cougars are in second, while Paul Cornwell's team is in third.

The Rams made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,665 from 10,544. The improvement was the result of a 48-8 victory over the Hawks last week.
