Football Game Preview: Costa Mesa Mustangs vs. Yucca Valley Trojans + Official Tickets

Two dominant backs in Gavin Garza and Clyde King are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Costa Mesa Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Yucca Valley Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Yucca Valley will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Costa Mesa extended their winning streak to eight on Thursday. The Mustangs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Loara 54-17. With the Mustangs ahead 44-17 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Andrew Waiss had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 152 yards and one TD on only ten carries, while also throwing for 104 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Costa Mesa was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 364 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 185 rushing yards in 15 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Yucca Valley never let their opponents score on Thursday. They really took it to Twentynine Palms for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-0 victory. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Yucca Valley's win came from a few key players Costa Mesa will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aiden Shannon, who threw for 205 yards and five TDs while completing 81.2% of his passes. Aiden Pope was Shannon's top target, picking up 107 receiving yards and three scores.

Costa Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Yucca Valley, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
