Tunkhannock had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Western Wayne Wildcats on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tunkhannock had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-27, 25-9, 25-13, 15-8.

Western Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Tunkhannock and Western Wayne will both be playing Lake-Lehman the next time they take the court. The Wildcats will head out to face the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Tigers will host them at 5:00 p.m. on September 3.
