Recap: Madrid-Waddington Yellowjackets vs. Saranac Lake Red Storm

The Madrid-Waddington Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Saranac Lake 68-28. Madrid-Waddington was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-13.

Leading Saranac Lake to victory were Mik Denkenberger and Caleb Akey. Denkenberger scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Akey scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. That's the first time this season that Denkenberger scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Owens, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.

Madrid-Waddington's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Saranac Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Madrid-Waddington will be playing at home against Tupper Lake at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Tupper Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday. Saranac Lake's road trip will continue as they head out to face Northern Adirondack at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th.
